Ship serious software

Every module we publish is one we would deploy to a client store ourselves. No half-built scaffolds, no PR-thin features, no 'community edition' versus 'enterprise edition' nonsense.

Write things down

Async-first. Decisions live in writing. PR descriptions explain the why. We expect the same of new hires from week one.

Read the source

When something is unclear, the answer is in Magento core. We promote the habit and pay for it: every engineer gets a dedicated reading block in their week.

Customers in the loop

Engineers answer tickets. We don't farm support to a separate team. Hearing the customer's actual problem is the cheapest research the business has.

Senior Magento / Hyvä engineer
Full-time · Remote · UK / EU hours
Talent pool
Build, ship and maintain published modules. Own a category from kick-off through changelog v14. Pair with the storefront team on real-world Hyvä install pain.
- 5+ years on Magento 2.4.x. Comfortable in DI, plugins, the framework as a whole.
- Familiar with Hyvä storefront patterns. You can read the diff between a Luma and Hyvä-first implementation and tell us why one is faster.
- PRs that read like documentation. You write the commit message before the code.

Own the storefront layer of our published modules. Hyvä-first. AlpineJS for state, Tailwind for styling, zero React shipped to the browser unless we explicitly want it there.
- You have shipped real Hyvä projects in production, not just spike branches.
- You can hand-write Tailwind from memory and explain why a class is or isn't a utility.
- Comfortable reading Magento PHP even when you don't write it for a living.

- Comfortable saying 'we shipped a bug, here is the fix' without ceremony.

Process

How the interview runs.

Step 1. Introduction call (30 minutes)
Mutual fit conversation. You learn how we work, we learn what kind of work you want to be doing. No technical screen here.
Step 2. Paid technical exercise (one weekend, your pace)
A real anonymised ticket from the last six months. We pay your day rate for it. You commit to a private repo, we read it as if it were a real PR.
Step 3. Engineering wrap-up (60 minutes)
We talk through your exercise, your reasoning, your trade-offs. Lots of room for your questions. Decision within five working days.

Is the role remote?: Yes. Every role is remote. We sync on UK and EU hours, but you can work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection. We do not require relocation.
What does the interview process look like?: Three conversations. A 30-minute introduction. A paid technical exercise based on a real (anonymised) ticket from the last six months. A wrap-up call with the engineering lead to talk through your approach and answer your questions. No leetcode, no system-design theatre.
Do you sponsor visas?: Not currently. We hire contractors and full-time employees globally on a contractor or local-equivalent basis depending on the candidate's location.
What benefits do you offer?: A competitive salary benchmarked against UK senior engineering rates. Annual learning budget. Hardware refresh every two years. Paid leave above statutory minimum. Engineers get one full reading-and-research day each fortnight.
Can I apply if I have less than five years of Magento experience?: Yes, especially if the rest of your stack covers the gap (Symfony, Laravel, similar). Tell us in your application why you'd come up to speed quickly.
